What's New
Feburary 1st, 2003
As most are aware, OFCR will no longer be taking in anymore surrendered animals. I have made changes to the website because of this new change. Sue is still running as a non-profit shelter with the animals she has.
Some of the animals she had were adopted, and I have made changes accordingly as far as who I knew for sure were no longer looking for homes or sponsors. I'm sure that I am not aware of all the changes and am currently working with Sue to get everything up-to-date and accurate.
I have also removed the Yahoo Group. When I made it for Sue, my intention was for it to become a "braging room" for everyone to share photos, stories, etc. of their pets, but unfortuntly, it never became so and with everything that's been happening with the shelter and the heated debates going back and forth at other places, I thought it best for it to be gone.
I have had to update every page on this site, so if you see any errors (typo's, broken links, etc.), please let me know. - Thanx

I have recieved many questions from people who have been having a hard time reaching Sue, and it has come to my attention that rumors of the shelter closing are starting to go around. I too, am having a hard time keeping in contact with Sue. Right now, her phone has been shut off, so not only am I (or anyone else) unable to call her, but her internet access is limited to having to go to her daughters house
to use her computer to check her mail.
The shelter is not closing... and the website is still up and
running, as the Webmistress for the OFCR Website, I've been trying to do everything I can to help Sue raise the money she needs to at least get her head above water. The website states that she is in dire need and it was my hope that she would perhaps recieve enough donations, etc. to help her through this exceptionally tough time for her.
For those of you who may not have recieved Sue's special notice, I have posted it below. She sent this approximately a week ago to inform everyone of the shelters status because there have been so many concerns.
If you have any other questions, I'll be glad to try and answer them. You can email me at: ravenshadowonline@yahoo.com

****SUE'S SHELTER NOTICE & UPDATE****
This is an update for those of you who have bought from me on ebay or donated items or money. I am still running as a shelter, not taking in any animals at this time, have found homes for many, but still have some to find homes for. If you are sponsoring a pet, it is still here, none of he sponsored animals have found a home yet. You will be notified if they do. For those of you who know me well, I am still trying to get that one mortgage payment raised for Tuesday mornings
deadline. I lost the flea market space and everything in it. I couldn't find anyone to help me move the stuff.
I am struggling badly right now because I don't have the ebay sales, hope to have some things on in the next week or so. and no flea market. I am going through the divorce, now have filed the motion for temporary support, just waiting for that. I should be okay once it comes through.
I had planned on sending out Christmas wishes to all over the
internet, but now I don't have a phone so I couldn't get online. I am at someone's house with my computer right now. If you have sent me an email and I didn't respond, this is why. It will take a long time to answer all of my mail.
This is also a wish that you had a great Holiday and have a safe and Happy New Year.
Sue & the Animals

Important Notice about the Shelter!!!
Times are tough right now for the Okeechobee Ferret & Cat Rescue. Right now, money is so tight that Sue is fearing having to close down the shelter, and even losing her home. Her only means of transportation recently broke down, for good. eBay sales are down and so are donations.
As the webmistress, I've put a lot of hard work and countless hours into this website to help Sue and the animals raise as much money as possible, I too stuggle for money, so this website was my donation to her. It would break my heart if depite my efforts, and those of many others, the shelter would still have to close.
Please, lets all get together and help her out in this time of need by doing our Christmas shopping from her eBay Items! Making a special Christmas donation for her and the animals or by joining the Dollar-A-Month Club.
Together we can keep this shelter running...

On September 26th OFCR was hacked into by an Anti-American group causing our site to be down & replaced with one of their own with slanderous messages. We were not the only site hit that evening by this group. Luckily, Mr. Ochs, the gentleman who has donated this space for our site was quick to repair the damage. Many thanks to him for all his hard work and effort he has put into repairing not just our site, but the many others that were targets of this non-sense.
On a brighter note, we have made a few simple changes to the site. We have added a link to OFCR's eBay Auctions. Please visit them and see if there is anything you'd like to purchase. Sue is always adding new items, so if you don't see anything you like now, please check back in a few days and share the site with your friends and family. Remember, this is the shelter's main source of income.
We have also removed The Ferret Owners Guide to the Internet. It's our understanding that the person selling this online book had wrongfully obtained much of the information, hence, the guide is no longer for sale.
September 17th, 2002 We have started a new program called the Dollar-A-Month Club where anyone can help make a BIG difference.
July 15th, 2002 We have changed the format of our Newsletter into a Yahoo Discussion Group. You may now post messages, chat, share pictures of your fuzzie kids, or your favorite web sites. Visit our new discussion group at The OFCR News and Discussion Group.
May 30th, 2002 We have signed up as an affiliate with The Ferret Owners Guide To The Internet. It is an enormous online "book" of all things ferrety on the internet. They offer a free trial to see if you'll enjoy it before making the commitment of purchasing their product. If you do purchase The Ferret Owners Guide To The Internet through our link, Sue and the kids at the OFCR will receive half of the purchase price!! So please be sure to use our link here if you choose to buy it.
May 26th, 2002 The OFCR Web site has officially moved to it's new web domain, www.craftyferret.com Thank You To Mr. & Mrs. Ochs for donating the web domain and space to the shelter!
We have also added a couple of logos for you to use on your own web site to help promote the OFCR Web site.
May 7th, 2002 We have added more animals in need of adoption and/or sponsors. Visit the Sponsorship and Adoption Pages for pictures and stories behind these wonderful animals.
May 4-6, 2002 We have a slightly different layout at the OFCR. I did this for easier navigation as I needed to add the sign-up link for Sue's newsletter (which is now running).
Sue has written a thank you to everyone who has helped her and the animals throughout the years. She also goes more in depth as to how the shelter is run. Sue and I are planning on doing an "Angel Of The Year Award". Go to the Thank You pages to learn more.
May 2nd, 2002 Sue rescued 15 kittens and their mothers several days ago who were about to be euthanized by animal control. The kittens are all adoptable and will be ready to leave for their new homes in 2 weeks. Visit the Adoption Pages to view pictures of these adorable kittens.
Sue is also trying to raise enough money so that she may register to do raffles. Once this money has been raised and the shelter has been registered we will be offering ferret, cat and maybe even dog products on the web site where you send in a dollar for one entry number to win whatever item it is we're offering to help raise more funds for the shelter. If you'd like to help Sue raise the money she needs to file for this, visit the Donation Pages.
May 1st, 2002 We're going to be adding a mailing list which visitors may sign up for and receive newsletters via email for current updates on the shelter from Sue. Any one who is currently receiving periodic letters from Sue will receive an invitation to be added to the Newletter. Sign up through the web page will be available within a few days. We're still test driving everything before we have everyone sign up.
